EDU 690 Masters Master's Project 

Course Description:

Prerequisites: EDU 501, EDF 689, and minimum 24 hours of graduate-level coursework.

Builds on foundations constructed in EDF 689 and EDU 501.  Production of a curriculum or research-based project in a topic of special interest to the student; project must be approved by the instructor prior to execution.  The final product must follow APA guidelines in its written form.  Oral presentation required.

EDU 690 The Master's Project Reflects the Buffalo State Teacher Education Unit Conceptual Framework

Content – The professional educator will know the subject matter to be taught to P-12 learners.

Learner – The professional educator will understand P-12 learners’ socialization, growth and development; the learning process; reflection of teaching; and the establishment of a classroom climate that facilitates learning.

Pedagogy – The professional educator will attain an understanding of the strategies that candidates use to teach all learners.

Technology – The professional educator uses technology as a vehicle for learners to acquire information, practice skills, use higher order thinking skills, and participate in collaborative projects.

Reflection – The professional educator exhibits the ability to reflect and assess his/her own effectiveness, and to systematically make adjustments to improve and strengthen areas needing attention.

Dispositions – The professional educator demonstrates respect for learner differences, commitment to own personal growth, and engagement in short and long-term planning.

Diversity – The professional educator is aware of and sensitive to diversity issues and to use culturally and socially responsive pedagogy.

 

Critical Knowledge/Skill Areas (optional)

Diversity:  The professional education candidate will utilize be aware of and sensitive to culturally pluralistic

settings issues and to use culturally and socially responsive pedagogy.

 

Technology:  The use of technology in the classroom has become a vehicle for learners to acquire information,

practice skills, use higher order thinking skills, and participate in collaborative projects.  Students in this course will develop and enhance web-based skills using instructional technology. 

Dealing with Exceptional Learners in the Regular Classroom:  Inclusion of effective teaching of exception learners will be incorporated and documented within the completed Master’s Project.  

 

Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes

1.  The EDU 690 student will utilize their culmination of the subject matter gained during the student’s graduate course of study.

2.  The EDU student will create a Master’s Project that documents their understanding of P-12 learners' socialization, growth, and development; the learning process; reflection of teaching; and the establishment of a classroom climate that facilitates learning for all students.

3.  The EDU 690 student will utilize pedagogical strategies that enhance their learning and the learning of others.
